The Labour Party appeared to have adopted a left-field new vote-winning strategy earlier today when its official Twitter press account sent a tweet reading "Everybody should have his own owl".
So many questions immediately sprang to mind. Was the policy an attempt to piggyback on the popularity of Harry Potter and co, whose faithful pet owls are used to carry messages? Wouldn't that undermine Royal Mail? And why should only male voters get an owl?
Sadly, it appears the tweet was the result of someone hacking the account, rather than a genuine addition to the Labour manifesto.
Labour's Twit-twoo-ers handled it well, though, following the tweet up with these puntastic posts.
And, of course, the rest of Twitter had great fun responding...
