Christmas is a time for festive cheer, but for those of us who spend the December period scowling into our brussel sprouts, you've got a kindred spirit in Grumpy Cat.
The unimpressed star of the internet is making the transition to television this yuletide, starring in a Lifetime movie titled Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever.
Written by Tim Hill (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jeff Morris, the one-off movie will follow a pet shop cat who is constantly over-looked and the 12-year-old girl who can communicate with her, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Yes, Grumpy Cat – real name Tardar Sauce – is actually a girl. Who knew?
The movie will be filmed this summer and, according to Lifetime, will be "a little Home Alone and a little Die Hard" with cameos from other famous Internet memes.
Grumpy Cat first found fame in 2012 when owner Tabatha Bundesen's brother posted a photo of her on Reddit. She has since starred in scores of internet memes as well as fronting her own book and coffee product and appearing on the front page of The Wall Street Journal and cover of New York Magazine. She made a guest appearance on the 13th series of American Idol earlier this year and enjoyed the A-list treatment on the front row at the MTV Movie Awards last April.
