Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell hints at judging panel shake-up

The BGT mastermind has confirmed he'll be speaking to his colleagues "to see how much they want to be on the show"

The Britain’s Got Talent judging panel may have looked united as they stepped on to stage for last night’s final, but BGT boss Simon Cowell has hinted he might shake things up ahead of next year’s contest…

The show is currently judged by Cowell along with David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden – who has held her seat since the show’s inception back in 2007.

“I’m possibly looking at a shake-up for next year,” the 54-year-old told Bang Showbiz. “It’s about having a conversation to see how much they want to be on the show.

“Are they still into the idea of finding a star? I never want a judge for hire. I want someone committed.”

He also discussed his relationship with Walliams who spends much of his airtime teasing his boss. “He gets really over-excited on the live shows and says and does things he wasn’t planning, then sometimes regrets it,” Cowell conceded.

“But he kind of makes it interesting. I knew what I was getting when I hired him.”

His comments come three series after Walliams and Dixon replaced Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff on the panel. Dixon was poached from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and has recently been rumoured to take a seat on The X Factor judging panel when the series returns this autumn.
