D-Day 70: the Heroes Return - 8pm, BBC2

Huw Edwards presents highlights of today's events in Normandy commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Senior members of the royal family joined other heads of state and military veterans from all nations to pay tribute to the thousands of armed forces personnel who lost their lives on June 6, 1944, and in the days and weeks that followed. Earlier today, thousands of British veterans came together to pay their respects to the men they fought alongside 70 years ago. Last in the series. Normandy '44: The Battle Beyond D-Day is at 9.30pm.

Great British Menu - 6:30pm, BBC2

But somehow they picked the menu to serve at today’s D-Day commemoration banquet.

While Spam has been a bit too much in evidence, the theatrical presentations have been impressively creative: we’ve seen mini allotments, Churchill’s cigars and airships over the Houses of Parliament. Brilliant.

Farewell Tina - 8pm, ITV

Tina McIntyre should be held up as an example of why you should never move on to a soap street. In her six years in Weatherfield, she saw her dad die, testified in court (twice), was cheated on, fell from a great height and has now died in hospital. What a track record. Thankfully, Michelle Keegan is alive and well (although slightly whiplashed from that recent stunt work) and ready for pastures new.

Here, cast mates discuss Tina’s Street history and those high-profile plotlines. But what exactly will Keegan be taking with her from her time on the cobbles? “I’ve got a Rovers’ beermat,” she tells RT. “Oh, and Tina’s massive hoop earrings!
