The police spotlight is to fall on the Branning family next week as officers continue to investigate the murder of Lucy Beale.
In scenes to be shown on Monday 9 June, the Brannings will be seen having a heated row in full view of the Queen Vic regulars. But when Cora (Ann Mitchell) gets everyone back to her flat, Max (Jake Wood) cracks and reveals some surprising information.
The next day, Lauren threatens to go to the police but Cora persuades her not to, worried that Max will look guilty if he changes his statement. Later, a concerned Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) goes to her dad’s to lend him her support and asks if there’s anything else he needs to come clean about. It’s not long though before the police make a surprise visit and ask both Max and Abi to clarify their statements.
Max, though, has a cunning way of dealing with DC Emma Summerhayes. As has been widely reported, the priapic car dealer will turn on the charm and make a play for the family liaison officer:
“I think they are just two people who really fancy each other. It’s completely inappropriate and they both know it’s utterly wrong – but sometimes that’s what is most compelling,” actress Anna Acton comments in the new issue of Inside Soap. “Max is this intriguing guy who slept with his daughter’s best friend, but Emma is still attracted to him. It’s her job that I’m most concerned about, to be honest. Emma could be in trouble.”
