Insurgent, the sequel to sci-fi hit Divergent, has added a number of new faces to its cast.
British actress/model Suki Waterhouse and Chasing Mavericks star Jonny Weston are both set to join the follow up film, which also stars Octavia Spencer, Kate Winslet, Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Jai Courtney, Zoe Kravtiz and Miles Teller.
Weston’s role is yet to be confirmed while Waterhouse will play Marlene, a member of the Dauntless faction. The 22-year-old star, who is dating American Hustle actor Bradley Cooper, has previously starred in the adaptation of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Pusher, and is set to appear in upcoming rom com Love, Rosie, alongside Sam Claflin and Lily Collins.
Insurgent is set in a dystopian future where humanity has organised itself into five factions which each uphold a different value: selflessness, intelligence, peace, honesty and bravery. Based on the novels of US author Veronica Roth, the trilogy follows 16-year-old Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior (played by Woodley) who is found to be a Divergent, a rare citizen who doesn’t fall neatly into any one of the five factions.
