As far as wedding day cliffhangers went, it took some beating: as David Wicks (Michael French) raced back to Albert Square at the end of Tuesday's episode to join bride-to-be Carol (Lindsey Coulson) on their big day, he was struck by a heart attack. As the credits rolled, viewers were left wondering whether David would be found in time.
In tonight's instalment (BBC1, 7.30pm), the family will be seen continuing to worry that Dad has stood Carol up. But when Liam (James Forde) makes a worrying discovery, he rushes to tell his relations that David has collapsed.
It was recently announced that actor Michael French was to leave EastEnders. A spokesperson for the BBC1 soap confirmed to RadioTimes.com that French had only ever intended to stay for a short stint, but agreed to extend his contract following the arrival of executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins.
A source also said to the Daily Star Sunday of French's departure: “Michael has been a great addition to the cast since he returned last year. Everyone knows what a perfectionist Michael is. He’s created a soap icon in David Wicks but sadly for all of his fans he’s now set to leave again."
