EastEnders fans left reeling by the revelation that Shirley Carter is really Mick Carter's mum are going to have to wait a while for the Queen Vic landlord to discover the truth.
Asked by RadioTimes.com on the red carpet at tonight's British Soap Awards as to when Mick will learn about his parentage, Danny Dyer answered: "I don't know what my reaction is going to be, but I can guarantee I'll have a Christmas hat on. Bit of turkey. Boom!"
Revealing his nerves at being at his first BSAs, the 36-year-old added: "It's overwhelming. I've only been on screen five months, so I'm a bit freaked out by it all. But there's real love between the Carters and I think that comes across on screen. It's very rare."
Dyer was accompanied by cast mates Kellie Bright, Sam Strike, Maddy Hill and Danny-Boy Hatchard, the latter of whom confirmed that he would be making a return as soldier Lee Carter. "I'm obviously going to be back, otherwise I wouldn't be on the red carpet, would I?" he joked.
Dyer - also joking, we hasten to add - added: "I'll let you into a secret. Lee killed Lucy Beale."
When quizzed about whether viewers would one day see Stan's ex-wife, the oft-referred to but never actually seen Sylvie, Bright hinted: "You might. I don't know, but you might!"
