Your favourite TV double-act?

Saga and Martin, the two detectives in The Bridge, crackle together. They both have that vulnerability and they kind of need each other but at the same time kind of don’t.

Did you know Jodie before Broadchurch?

We had done some play readings together so at the read-through she was like, “Hi, husband,” and I was like, “Hi, wife.” And then we said hello to our kids! Jodie is a class individual – open, warm, funny, generous when you’re doing a scene – she made it all easy.

Why should Broadchurch win RT’s Audience Award?

I still look at the rest of the cast in awe – I feel like such a lucky boy to have been on screen alongside them, for that reason alone it deserves an award. It also kept me guessing until the end.

British Academy Television Awards are on Sunday 18 May at 8:00pm on BBC1.
