Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn is in line to helm the much-anticipated horror film The Bringing.
The Danish film maker, who is known for directing Drive and Only God Forgives, both starring Ryan Gosling, is in talks to direct the feature which is said to be based on the real-life viral video-recording of Canadian student Elisa Lam.
Lam was found dead in the hotel’s water tank in February last year and her tragic death continues to cause debate. The storyline will reportedly feature supernatural elements in the narrative.
Sony Pictures will be funding the project, with The Amazing Spiderman producer Matt Tolmach also set to join the film, although no other cast members have been announced so far.
Winding Refn, who is currently part of the jury panel at Cannes Film Festival, is no stranger to the horror genre. He will direct Carey Mulligan in the film I Walk With The Dead alongside an all-female cast and with a script from rising star Polly Stenham.
