The first round of auditions have wrapped up on this year’s X Factor series, which means the next step is the in-room auditions – in front of the judges.
The initial rounds saw thousands of contestants do their thing in front of production staff around the UK. Here, the best (and undoubtedly some rather questionable) acts were picked out before the named judges get their say.
Yet, with only a month to go until these filmed auditions start, Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole remain the only confirmed panelists. That leaves two seats empty and some big decisions left to be made.
A source close to the show tells RadioTimes.com that no offers have been made to anyone for these two spots.
Will-he-won’t-he Louis Walsh remains unconfirmed, although his constant presence on the show over the last ten years suggest he’s still a strong possibility for this year. Former Spice Girl Mel B’s name remains a regular in the rumour mill, too.
It’s thought Cole is keen for a another woman on the panel, with Cowell giving the former Girls Aloud singer and returning judge a say in the final line-up.
The show itself will land on ITV around the end of August/ beginning of September. Perhaps they should run a talent show to find the third and fourth judges first..?
