John Shelby actor Joe Cole was recently spotted in Falkner Square, Liverpool, during a shoot for series two of the BBC gangster drama. Passersby saw a vintage car and actors dressed in period dress during the scene.

Cole was seen with a cigar between his lips, carrying a package through the park.

Scenes shot in Liverpool will double as 1920s Birmingham, and include Cillian Murphy and Batman actor Tom Hardy – who’s been cast for the second series.

Hardy will take on the role of a charismatic chap who presents an opportunity to the big gang boss.

Both Murphy and Hardy have been spotted around the city centre in the past few weeks.

Filming for the BBC series has also taken place in Cheshire, at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere, where secretive filming went on into the night, lit by heavy-duty lights on cranes.

Shots have previously taken place in the urban surrounds of Leeds, Birmingham, Birmingham and Dudley.
