Melissa McCarthy is throwing her comedic talents behind another role.
The 43-year-old comedy star, who rocketed into the spotlight after playing Megan in Bridesmaids, is playing Tammy, a fast food worker who is fired and finds out her husband is cheating on her in the same day.
Tammy then decides to rob a burger restaurant for money (and pies), wearing a paper bag on her head and waving her finger around instead of a gun, before going on the run with her hard-drinking grandmother, played by Susan Sarandon.
Tammy is McCarthy's first foray into screenwriting. She co-wrote the comedy with Ben Falcone, the film's director and McCarthy's husband.
The Identify Thief, The Heat, The Hangover Part II star is also set to appear alongside Miranda Hart and Jude Law in Paul Feig's new comedy Spy.
Tammy will be in UK cinemas 2 July.
