Matt Smith to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke in Terminator reboot

The former Doctor Who star will reportedly take “a major role” in the new sci-fi movie trilogy Terminator: Genisys

Sci-fi geeks, your heads may be about to explode at the news that recently departed Doctor Who star Matt Smith looks set to join the cast of another, somewhat darker, futuristic franchise, The Terminator reboot.

Smith is being lined up for “a major role” in the new trilogy, alongside the original Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, according to Hollywood insiders Deadline.

But who will Smith be playing? We saw him buffed up recently for Ryan Gosling’s How to Catch a Monster but he didn’t quite make it to Schwarzenegger’s size so a fellow cyborg could be out of the question. But how about John Connor, leader of the human resistance against evil machine army Skynet? Only time will tell…

Terminator: Genisys is directed by Alan Taylor and is slated for release on 1 July 2015.
