Claudia Winkleman has been the hot favourite to replace Sir Bruce Forsyth since he announced his retirement as the co-host of Strictly Come Dancing. And judge Darcey Bussell is backing Winkleman all the way, following her impressive turns as Sir Bruce's stand-in last year's series.
“She’s been on board for most of the time anyway… and to have her part of the team is just brilliant. I can’t imagine her not doing it,” Bussell will tell Magic FM this Sunday.
Other names sashaying around the rumour mill include chat show host Graham Norton, DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles, broadcaster Chris Evans and actor John Barrowman. But Bussell is firmly on team Winkleman.
“Her and Tess are hysterical together, they have such a great time, so it feels totally natural,” says the ballet star.
Of course the returning judge will miss the legendary presenting skills of Sir Bruce.
“It is a shock. Trying to imagine Strictly without him is going to be weird and we’re going to miss him horribly. I think he’s probably relieved that he hasn’t got that pressure. I know Bruce found it exhausting for sure.”
