Kiefer Sutherland was playing Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer in Holborn on Saturday, while The White Queen actress Emily Berrington acted out scenes for her role as Simone in the resurrected series in Trafalgar Square.

One part of Lincoln’s Inn Fields in Holborn was shut off at the weekend to film a car stunt, while several movie vans, policemen, camera men and runners were darting around the area where the action would take place. A stuntman driving a silver Jeep sped down the road and crashed into a lorry carrying a wooden structure. Then Kiefer Sutherland took to the wheel of the same car and filmed the scene again.

Crowds gathered in the adjacent park square to catch a glimpse of The Lost Boys actor as he came out of the luxury Club Quarters hotel to act out his scene.

On Sunday, Trafalgar Square was also temporarily cordoned-off while scenes took place with British actress Emily Berrington, which saw her being hit by a red 109 double-decker bus.

Berrington will join Argo’s Tate Donovan, Law and Order's Benjamin Bratt and analyst Chloe o'Brian played by Mary Lynn Rajskub in the new series, in which Jack Bauer will come out of hiding to defend London from an epic terrorist attack.

24 Live Another Day is due to air in the UK at 9pm, May 7, on Sky1.
