Britain's Got Talent - 7:00pm, ITV

It's only the second week of auditions from round the country, which means we've barely scratched the surface of the nation's talent. We'll probably see a few adorable kids singing or dancing, some animals resolutely refusing to do anything for their frustrated owners, an act that's like nothing we've ever seen before and a couple of performers who will blow us away for some reason.

Storm City - 8:00pm. Sky 1/Sky 3D

Ben Fogle gets down and dirty to really feel the effects of bad weather. In this first episode, he explores the immense power of snow and ice, with the help of personal testimonies from survivors of ice storms, and subjects a "test house" to the full force of an avalanche. Britain's Favourite Detectives - 9:25pm, Channel 5

Here we go with an "exploration of the country's favourite crime-solvers" — as voted for by you, of course. The show alights on TV detectives down the decades, touching on the cultural phenomenon Sherlock and paying homage to old stages Poirot and Miss Marple.

Messiah at the Foundling Hospital - 9:30pm, BBC2

On 1 May 1750, the great and the good of London society crowded into a chapel at the Foundling Hospital for a performance of Messiah, conducted by the great Handel himself. While excerpts are performed in Georgian attire, Amanda Vickery and Tom Service show how the paths of Handel and philanthropist Thomas Coram converged that day and explain Messiah's enduring appeal.

The Americans - 10:15pm, ITV

Tonight the Soviet spies finally corner their man, only to learn he may not have pulled the trigger after all. Following last week's chat with Philip's other wife, Elizabeth demands he dons the greasy blonde wig and oversized glasses and acts like Clark with her too.
