Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington will star as trainee MI5 agent Will Crombie, swapping the scenic fantasy world of Westeros for urban London and the relaxing Isle of Man in Spooks: The Greater Good.
Filming has commenced for the spin-off movie at Pinewood studios in the UK capital, and will see Harington star alongside Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty), Tuppence Middleton (The Love Punch) and Peter Firth, who played Sir Harry Pearce – the head of the MI5 counter terrorism unit – in the Spooks TV series.
Directed by Bharat Nalluri (Tsunami: The Aftermath), The Greater Good will be a thriller that follows a runaway terrorist named Adam Qasim. After he escapes from MI5 custody, the disgraced spies have to try and recapture Qasim before he causes more terror.
The film follows on where the TV series left off, and will be equally as unsparing with the main characters. Insiders tell us to expect twist and turns – no character is safe, and the leads may not save the day.
Spooks: The Greater Good is set for release in 2014.
