Ahead of one of the soap's biggest-ever whodunnits, the cast of EastEnders has posed for a group picture. In the image, taken on the show's Elstree set, senior cast members including Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) and June Brown (Dot Branning) can be seen posing alongside relative newcomers such as Danny Dyer (Mick Carter) and Kellie Bright (Linda Carter).
Exiting actress Hetti Bywater can also be spotted standing with screen dad Ian, although her character Lucy is set to be killed off during Good Friday's episode. However, Samantha Womack (Ronnie Mitchell) is conspicuous by her absence having been filming other projects at the time the photo was taken. Another absentee, Himesh Patel (Tamwar Masood), was away on holiday.

Only three characters survive from the first time a group shot was taken in 1985 (below): Ian (Adam Woodyatt), Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Dot (June Brown) - the latter two having both taken time off during the three-decade run. Only Adam Woodyatt has been with EastEnders from its inception through to the present day.
Of his upcoming plotline which will see Ian grieving following the death of his daughter, Woodyatt said recently: "I’ve had many storylines over the years which have challenged me, but this one is completely different as it’s a father losing his daughter very suddenly. It’s raw and they haven’t held anything back from the scripts nor have we from the performances."
