The Carters' soldier son Lee is to come under suspicion of killing Lucy Beale, according to actor Danny-Boy Hatchard.
Mick and Linda's boy - who makes his debut on the BBC1 soap in April - will find himself attracting police attention after sleeping with Lucy prior to her death.
"He's been in Afghanistan surrounded by a load of blokes, comes home and sees a nice bit of skirt," the Walford newcomer joked to RadioTimes.com. "He likes Lucy, goes in bold and gets what he wants. They form a nice little bond together and then she goes and gets murdered! It's a difficult one for Lee, bless him - he comes back thinking he's going to be escaping all this high drama and then his girlfriend gets killed. It's all a bit too much for him, to be honest."
EastEnders bosses announced back in February that Ian Beale's daughter Lucy (played by Hetti Bywater) would exit this Easter in a plotline that executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins promised would "shock, entertain and make the nation weep".
As to whether Lee would find himself on the suspect list, Hatchard added: "The likelihood is - and potentially the way they're going to run it - is that Lee is a suspect. Whether he's the killer, I don't know. And nobody knows. The way the writers are working is very clever."
