Richard E Grant has tweeted a first glimpse of his character on Downton Abbey. The British actor is a guest star in the upcoming fifth series of the ITV drama and he’s certainly enjoying his dapper attire…

While Downton Abbey bosses are notoriously cagey when it comes to plot spoilers, it is known that Grant will play an art historian named Simon Bricker when he pays a visit to the Crawley family.

The Withnail and I and Girls actor has also let slip that creator Julian Fellowes had asked him to be in four episodes of the fifth series which will also see Anna Chancellor (Four Weddings and A Funeral) appear as Lady Anstruther – the woman footman Jimmy (Ed Speleers) previously worked for. We wonder if she leaves for the weekend in such style?

Downton Abbey is currently being filmed at Highclere Castle and Ealing Studios and is expected to air on ITV in the autumn.
