Skins star Jack O'Connell is about to hit the big time. Not only is he captivating as violent criminal Eric in new prison drama Starred Up, but he's got a prime role in action flick 300: Rise of an Empire and was handed picked by Angelina Jolie to play the lead role in her directorial debut, Unbroken.

By the time of that film's release next year, the world will know his name but in the meantime, he's tackling a topic far closer to home: the British prison system, portrayed in a far from flattering light by Starred Up screenwriter and one-time prison therapist, Jonathan Asser. 

Critical acclaim has already been heaped on O'Connell's performance (and rightly so) but he's got plenty of opinions on the subject matter. Here's what happened when RadioTimes.com met one of Britain's hottest young actors...
