Despite the recent death of Harold Ramis, Ghostbusters 3 will film in New York next year, under a new director.
Director Ivan Reitman stepped down following the loss of Ramis, but he is rumoured to be helping to find a replacement before the production takes place in early 2015.
Bill Murray, who played Dr Peter Venkman, has also opted not to join the movie. Apparently, the movie’s script has been reworked a number of times and will now have a new generation of Ghostbusters, with minor roles for some of the original cast.
“It’s a version of Ghost Busters that has the originals in a very minor role… When I came back from Harold’s funeral, it was really moving and it made me think about a lot of things,’ Reitman explained to Deadline.
However, Ghost Busters fans are sceptical about the decision to go ahead with a new movie:
I think losing the director is the final sign that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is just a bad idea. Let it go.
The original Ghost Busters movie was filmed in iconic locations around Los Angeles, including the Fire Station on 5th Street and the Biltmore Hotel on Grand Avenue, and in New York, including Central Park and Fifth Avenue.
