Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor paid an unexpected visit to Liverpool this week, emerging from the Tardis on stage in full costume, much to the surprise and delight of an audience at a BBC event.
It was the first official public appearance the new Doctor had made in his outfit, which caused a stir when it was unveiled last month. Capaldi cut a sharp figure in his red-lined Crombie coat, waistcoat-cardigan and Dr Marten shoes as he chatted briefly with host Graham Norton at the BBC Worldwide Showcase for international TV buyers.
The lifelong Doctor Who fan commented afterwards, “I’ve always been a fan of the show and I love that it’s now a global success.
"I'm excited, and slightly daunted, about how far the new series is going to travel.”
