David Tennant and Anna Gunn appear in the first official image from Gracepoint - the US adaptation of ITV's Broadchurch.

The Doctor Who and Breaking Bad actors - who play Detectives Emmett Carver and Ellie Miller in the ten-part series from Fox - are pictured entering through a picket fence in the fictional coastal town, past a sombre-faced policeman.

Appearing in Entertainment Weekly, the still could represent any number of situations from the original series but based on their concerned expressions, they could be on their way to meet with the Lasseter family - the American equivalent to murdered Danny Latimer and his family.

The US remake - currently filming in Canada - is being executive produced by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall who also wrote the opening episode. Co-starring Jacki Weaver and Michael Pena, it's set to debut on screens in America this autumn.

It is still unclear whether Tennant - who adopts a US accent in Gracepoint - will return to the UK version with co-star Olivia Colman when it begins filming its second series this May.
