Celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke is the first star out of Channel 4’s The Jump, after losing the ‘jump off’ to 5ive’s Ritchie Neville.
In the first night of the new celebrity reality show it was all eyes on the male stars as they took on the giant slalom challenge.
Sir Steve Redgrave stormed to victory – another gold medal host Davina McCall joked – with a time of 39.30 seconds. This put him easily ahead of his nearest competitor comedian Marcus Brigstocke, who clocked up a time of 44.75 seconds.
But it’s not the winners we’re worried about in The Jump – it’s the bottom two from the nightly challenge who have to face the live ski jump challenge.
Both Ritchie and Nicky opted to jump off of the lowest of the three jumps, with Ritchie joking he’d been told he wasn’t allowed to do any of the higher jumps just yet.
The aim of the game is to jump the furthest. Ritchie went first and landed an 11 metre jump – “my furthest jump by far” he revealed.
Nicky, in a rather fabulous snowflake print suit, was up next and managed just 9.5 metres meaning his time on the show was up.
I should probably say something about him being ‘chopped’ out of the competition. Or jumping out of the show…
