Sam Bailey has joked that speaking to Simon Cowell was a strange moment, but had no problem swearing at Danny Dyer at the NTAs.
“I’ve had a phone call from [Simon], but it was kind of a weird moment because I had the phone passed on to me and I was going, ‘What do I call him? Sir, boss, what?’
“I went, ‘Hello’, and he said, ‘Hello darling’, and then all of a sudden I actually pictured Jon Culshaw and Rory Bremner. I couldn’t believe it was him, so I didn’t actually think it was him at first. After about fifteen minutes I realised I actually was talking to Simon Cowell,” Sam tells Jonathan Ross.
But it seems there were no such nerves on meeting telly’s top talent backstage at the NTAs earlier this week.
“I met Danny Dyer and I was really pleased. I got to swear at him and I was really excited,” Sam admits of chatting to the new EastEnders star.
And it seems Sam and Michael Bolton have formed quite the strong bond. After appearing in support of Sam on the X Factor, the pair performed together during the awards.
On getting to know him, Sam has revealed she doesn’t actually call him Michael, and has come up with her own name for the famous singer.
“I’ve just been honest with him since day one and we were just sat down and talking and I said, ‘I don’t think I can call you Michael. I wanted to call him Micky B or something like that. So I decided to call him The Boltmeister – and he actually wuite likes it,” Sam Laughs.
