Simon Cowell is reportedly ready to sign a deal that’ll plonk him back on the judging panel of the UK version of the X Factor.
“Cowell is determined to get the show back to its best. He’ll sign the deal very soon, but has told the team that he’s on board,” a source tells the Mirror.
The source added that “everyone’s over the moon” and that the head honcho will be living back in London.
Rumours also continue to swirl around the possible return of Cheryl Cole, who according to the Sun is also in talks to head back to the show. Cheryl left the panel in 2010 and has since had a bit of a rocky time of it with the X Factor brand. The Fight For This Love singer appeared alongside Simon in just one show in the US. Cole won a settlement claiming loss of earnings in November 2013.
Rita Ora, Dannii Minogue and Robbie Williams’s names have also been linked to the show, which could mean a bumper year of familiar X Factor faces. Dannii herself was a judge with Cole and Cowell, so the panel could be a complete return to the old - if Louis Walsh stays that is.
While the show has been confirmed for a further three years on ITV, ratings on the UK show have dipped in the last two years. The 2013 final, which saw Sam Bailey crowned champ, was watched by 9.6 million people, making it the second lowest final in the show’s history.
