Debbie Rush has revealed that her character Anna Windass will be put through the emotional wringer in 2014.
"She's going to have a horrible time in the next six months or so," the actress told RadioTimes.com. "You'll see it start in the next couple of weeks but it's only going to get worse. The Windasses think they're going to have an amazing year ahead, but they don't."
Viewers will see Owen Armstrong's (Ian Puleston-Davies) business contact Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) encourage the Weatherfield builder to contribute a large amount of cash for a new project. Yet it seems that the consequences of that decision will come to affect Owen's nearest and dearest, with Anna having to provide emotional support.
"Anna's very vulnerable but she's also solid," continued Rush. "She's incredibly protective of her children and Owen. And while she's busy holding everything together, it all becomes really fractured. But she'd go to the ends of the earth to protect her family and that's what we'll see."
Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn also confirmed that the Windasses will be facing a turbulent future: "It looks like their fortunes have completely turned around and that they might be making something of themselves. But that doesn't quite go to plan. I suspect it will change Anna's life around forever."
