Sam Dingle (James Hooton) is to fall foul of the law in the coming weeks when he’s arrested and charged with arson following the Home Farm fire.
The showdown comes just as Sam is discussing going away with girlfriend Rachel (Gemma Oaten) to get married. Suddenly, wedding plans will be put on hold as a police car pulls up and a panicked Rachel tells Sam to run.
With the police in pursuit, Sam falls hurting his ankle. In a desperate move, he wields a fallen branch like a club but is quickly wrestled into submission. A distraught Rachel can only look on as Sam is led to a police car to face charges.
So how would Sam cope were he be sent to prison as a result of Charity’s (Emma Atkins) attempts to get him framed for the blaze?
“The last thing Sam could cope with would be to go back to prison,” admits actor James Hooton. “He’s not cut out for life behind bars. He’s a very sensitive soul and he needs his loved ones around him. Plus his future with Rachel could be ruined – it would be a knife in the back of their relationship.”
