Family drama is coming thick and fast for the Carters since their debut at Christmas. Mere days after Mick (Danny Dyer) raced to stop daughter Nancy (Maddy Hill) from marrying Wayne, the clan’s patriarch is now having to react to son Johnny’s (Sam Strike) admission that he’s gay.
In tender scenes written by Daran Little, Johnny will break down in his father’s arms during this evening’s episode and admit the truth that he’s been hiding for so long. But what he doesn’t expect is for his dad to be so understanding.
“I know that being gay is not a choice, it’s just in you, it’s who you are,” says Mick, before telling his boy that he’s proud of him.
But one big question remains: how will mum Linda (Kellie Bright) react should she discover all about her son’s sexuality?
EastEnders airs these scenes tonight at 8pm on BBC1.
