An immortal Johnny Depp? Sounds pretty good to us, although not in the case of his new film Transcendence.
The futuristic flick - which isn't due in cinemas until next April - has released it's first full trailer showing an almost unrecognisable Depp with a shaved head linked up with small probes.
His character, Will Castor - a leading artificial intelligence scientist - is shot by terrorists with a bullet laced with toxins in the upcoming film, leaving him terminally ill and unable to complete his goal of "technological singularity". His co-worker and wife, Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) hatches a plan to preserve his consciousness by uploading it to cyberspace.
"We can save him," she pleads with her team, but Caster's colleague Max (Paul Bettany) looks uneasy, and with good reason as the transformation goes horribly wrong...
Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy and Kate Mara are among the scientists tasked with preventing the evil force that Caster eventually becomes as he attempts to shape the world into something of his own making.
Transcendence is already generating quite a buzz as it marks the first time cinematographer Wally Pfister has taken the director's chair after working for years alongside Christopher Nolan, the man responsible for The Dark Knight Rises and Inception. For a sneak peek at the results, take a look at the trailer below...
Transcendence is released in UK cinemas on 25 April 2014
