The Syfy network is set to film a 12 Monkeys TV pilot in Detroit, and has grand plans to make a full spin-off TV series based on the 1995 Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis movie, directed by Terry Gilliam (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Monty Python).
Michigan Film Office Director, Margaret O'Riley, said: "Our ability to attract a television pilot like 12 Monkeys is a testament to the talent found across Michigan's film and digital media industry."
The Michigan Film Office has offered incentives to film the series in their neck of the woods. The Warner Brothers Superman/Batman feature, including Henry Cavill (Superman) and Ben Affleck (Batman) will also shoot in the area.
Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who worked on the sci-fi Terra Nova series plus Nikita, about a rouge assassin, are believed to be involved with the 12 Monkeys TV project. Although the critics loved it, the original Twelve Monkeys movie did not break boundaries at the box office. However, it did get Brad Pitt his first Oscar nomination for playing the deranged character of Jeffery Goines.
