Downton Abbey’s Jessica Brown Findlay is back in period dress for Winter’s Tale trailer

The Downton actress stars as a terminally ill heiress who falls for Colin Farrell's thief

She may have left the bright lights of Downton Abbey behind, but it seems Jessica Brown Findlay hasn’t all together abandoned the show’s period setting…

The 24-year-old actress, who starred as Lady Sybil in the hit ITV period drama, plays Beverly, a terminally ill heiress, in romantic, time-travelling, fantasy film Winter’s Tale.

The trailer sees Beverly catching thief Peter Lake (played by Colin Farrell) robbing her home. He soon decides against it though and instead she offers him a cup of tea.

The pair soon fall in love… but it’s not as simple as all that.

Lake is being hunted by evil crime lord Pearly Soames (great name, right?) and Beverly is suffering from a terminal illness.

It also turns out that Lake can travel through time and as dramas come to a head in the trailer, he mysteriously turns up in modern day New York where he can remember nothing of the life he once had.

To be honest, we’re not entirely sure what’s going on. It’s a little bit difficult to piece the plot together from this trailer. But we are sure on one thing, it is nice to see lovely Lady Sybil, sorry Jessica Brown Findlay, on the big screen.

The Da Vinci Code and I Am Legend screenwriter Akiva Goldsman directs Winter’s Tale, which also stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Will Smith and Matt Bomer.

Winter’s Tale will be in UK cinemas 21 February 2014.
