EL James has confirmed that Jamie Dornan will play Christian Grey.
The author of the internationally bestselling Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy has taken to Twitter to affirm that the 31-year-old is joining the cast, saying:
The British actor, who will star opposite Datoka Johnson's Anastasia Steele, will be replacing Charlie Hunnam, who departed the project earlier this month, just weeks after being cast.
Dornan played a fetishistic serial killer in BBC2's recent thriller The Fall, and starred in Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette and US series Once Upon a Time. The former Calvin Klein model is also known for having dated Keira Knightley.
Hunnam decided to leave the steamy movie earlier this month just weeks after being cast, citing his "immersive TV schedule" as the reason for his departure.
The Fifty Shades of Grey film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and has been adapted for the screen by Kelly Marcel.
EL James's internationally bestselling erotic trilogy, which also includes Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, follows the relationship between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, and their increasingly x-rated bedroom exploits.
