A more Bridget-esque problem could not have befallen Vintage Publishing – early copies of Ms Jones's latest diary have been mixed up with pages from David Jason’s autobiography.
So while eager readers turned the pages of Mad About the Boy, desperate to know what on earth is going on in Bridget’s world now that she’s been thrust back onto the modern dating scene… they ended up finding out about The Only Fools and Horses star'slife as well.
Well, at least it’s likely to be the same literary crowd, right…?
Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding has taken the error with good humour, saying “Nothing turns out quite perfectly”, and joking that perhaps some copies of Jason’s books had a few pages from her novel, too.
Jason’s book is not actually meant to be on sale yet, so readers with the mixed-up copies have been given an early preview.
Vintage Publishing released a statement saying, "We are taking steps to remove these copies from sale and will be replacing misprinted stock as soon as possible."
Del Boy would be down the market flogging them anyway – no money back, no guarantees...
