The closing moments of the new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will no doubt thrill fans of the franchise, eager for an insight into Benedict Cumberbatch's fiery-mouthed dragon. The Sherlock star's distinctive voice can be heard echoing around his treasure-filled trove as Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins timidly confronts him.
But in addition to the pair's climactic meeting, the two and a half minutes of footage offers up a wealth of new scenes from the film which picks up from last year's An Unexpected Journey before the trilogy concludes next December with There and Back Again.
Lost star Evangeline Lilly's Tauriel makes an appearance, meanwhile Orlando Bloom's Legolas is back to his arrow-firing best. Also look out for a glimpse of some mammoth spiders, plus Ian McKellen's towering wizard Gandalf.
But the end of the show really belongs to Cumberbatch whose rumbling vocals will no doubt send shivers down the spines of cinema-goers come December. Take a look below...
