Channel 5 is to air a dramatic reconstruction of the Bible – from the book of Genesis to the apocalyptic verses in the Book of Revelation.
And who better to narrate the whole thing than Jesus himself? Or something as close to Jesus as we Brits can muster.
Robert Powell, known from his roles in the 1977 series Jesus of Nazareth as well as The Thirty-Nine Steps (1978), Holby City and The Detectives, has been signed up to narrate the series which has already attracted 13 million viewers on cable in the States alone.
Created by producer and three time Emmy Award winner Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor,The Apprentice) the five-part, 10-hour programme will air on Channel 5 in December.
From the Old Testament’s Genesis to the fire-breathing conclusion of the New Testament in the Book of Revelation, The Bible combines some of the best-known stories ever told with with live action and state-of-the-art computer-generated imagery.
Taking Powell’s old role as the Messiah is Portugese actor and former model Diogo Morgado who attracted a rather large if unholy following…. and eventually found himself trending as #hotjesus.
