Lock up your sons and hide your daughters away; Geordie Shore, MTV's hit reality show, is back for a seventh series. New housemates traditionally don't do well in the house – Rebecca Walker, Ricci Guarnaccio and Daniel Thomas-Tuck have all walked in and walked back out. We spoke to latest recruit Marnie Simpson to find out what makes her different...
Hi Marnie, we've heard you're set to shake things up in the house.
I didn't expect to shake it up as much as what I did! I think anyone going in there is always going to stir things up because the girls don't like new people going in as it breaks up the family. But I went in and that's what I done, unknowingly.
The girls don't seem to react that well to new ladies in the house. Rebecca only lasted for series two and three. What did you learn from that?
I think Rebecca cared a little bit too much about what the others thought of her. Instead of doing what she wanted to do, I think she wanted to be liked by the others. I wasn't bothered if they didn't like us, I was always going to do what I wanted to do.
What did you think about the housemates before you went in?
I already knew them briefly beforehand through Sophie (Marnie and Sophie Kasaei are cousins).
Did Sophie know you were going into the house?
No, she had absolutely no idea. It was really last minute how I ended up going in, I was going to go to Ibiza for the summer, and she thought I was still going to Ibiza.
What was her reaction?
She was in utter shock, I don't think she could believe it. Vicky (Pattison) was really happy. I got on really well with her before I went in, that wasn't a problem, it was completely opposite to Rebecca. It was after a few days that it spiralled out of control.
How did it spiral out of control?
There was obviously an attraction there with the boys, there was a little bit of a romance, and the girls didn't like it, so then there was arguing between me and some of the girls. And there was arguments between me and Sophie because Sophie found it very hard to have us there. A lot happened.
You say you went in at the last minute, what happened?
They (the show producers) messaged us on Facebook. I only had three days notice but I was raring to go.
And what were you hoping to get out of the Geordie Shore experience?
I don't like working a normal job so I thought I'd go in the house and get pissed (laughs).
How did that work out for you?
It worked out really well. I wasn't getting nagged off me mam to get up and get me stuff sorted.
And what do you drink on a Geordie Shore night out?
Double vodka and coke – no TRIPLE vodka and coke.
Triple vodka and coke? You're hardcore!
I am, proper hardcore.
Do we see you throw up in your bed after all that unwise drinking, like Charlotte Crosby?
Yes you do, I did spew up on meself in bed. It was so embarrassing, it was me first night and I thought everyone would think I couldn't hack it in the Geordie Shore house.
Speaking of Charlotte, now she's been in Celebrity Big Brother, will she be back in Geordie Shore?
I don't think anything's been confirmed but I think she definitely could still be in Geordie Shore. It wouldn't be the same without her.
And what about you? Would you like to go back for the next series?
Definitely. It was just crazy, I enjoyed every minute of it.
The new series of Geordie Shore is on Tuesdays at 10pm on MTV
