Hayley Cropper’s last months are to be charted in an online blog that will feature specially filmed scenes.
The 12-part Hayley’s Diary will be penned by Corrie scriptwriter Ellen Taylor and is set to run on the show’s official website (itv.com/coronationstreet) between September 30 and mid October.
Viewers have already seen the terminally ill Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) tell husband Roy (David Neilson) that she wants to celebrate their life together with a wish list of things she would like them to do.
And while some of the upcoming scenes will appear within the main show, the online venture will see the Croppers revisit the boating lake where they had their first kiss and go on a camping trip, while Hayley will also attempt to overcome her childhood fear of puppets.
This isn’t the first time that Coronation Street has released spin-offs through their website. Past specials include a three-part drama from 2010 that covered Gary Windass’s tour of duty in Afghanistan, while a 10-part series of vignettes tackling Ken and Deirdre’s bedtime squabbles was made available in 2011.
