Secrets never stay hidden for long in soapland, so Jason and Eva are certainly asking for a bit much when they aim to keep their new-found relationship under wraps. In upcoming episodes, viewers will see Eva fall for Jason in a big way, only to then feel guilty that she’s slipped between the sheets with her mum’s ex-boyfriend. So how will Stella react when she discovers what’s been going on? Actress Catherine Tyldesley has the lowdown on the fallout from the Street’s latest romance:
So, what are Eva’s feelings for Jason? He’s proving himself to be a good support in the wake of Karl’s exposure?
Yes, I think that’s why she has fallen for him – she’s seen what a nice guy he is. She’s witnessed another side to him: not only is he great looking, but he’s also really genuine and sweet, which is something Eva has never really had with anyone.
So what’s going through her head when Jason asks her round to his place for a quiet drink?
To start with, she thinks it is just going to be a quiet drink. It comes as a bit of a surprise to both of them they kiss – they are just drawn to each other. It’s animal instinct! But I think Eva is surprised with herself because of all the history that Jason has with Stella. I think she’s a bit disappointed in herself that she couldn’t keep away.
Is Eva worried about Stella finding out?
Yes. Her mum is the one person that Eva will listen to, but she’s going through such a hard time after the wedding. So this is really not good timing. You’ve got to think, though, that Eva must really like Jason if she’s crossed all these boundaries. So maybe the relationship will actually turn out to be really strong.
What are Eva’s feelings when she and Jason end up in bed together?
Again, I think she really likes him, but there is still an overwhelming guilt. She doesn’t really know what to do. That’s when we see them talking about what they should do and find out how much they like each other.
Of course, Stella does find out about the relationship – can you tell us how that happens?
Unfortunately, Stella walks in while Eva and Jason are mid-snog, which obviously wasn’t the plan. And va is devastated when Stella walks in – she doesn’t know what to say or do to make it better. She’s very truthful with her mum. She says, “look, we did try to stop it, but I really like him” and I think her mum can see how genuine they are.
