Mel B, Jason Gardiner and Wayne Sleep join ITV dance show Stepping Out

The trio will form The Front Row judging panel, offering feedback and giving individual him and her scores each week

Mel B, Jason Gardiner and Wayne Sleep have all joined ITV’s new dance contest, Stepping Out. The rival show to BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing will feature The Front Row – a judging panel made up of the trio who will offer feedback and give individual him and her scores for each of the competing couples.

Each judge has their own expertise to bring to the show, with former Spice Girl Mel B having appeared on the Australian X Factor while Jason Gardiner sat on the panel for Dancing on Ice and Wayne Sleep was a former principle dancer with the Royal Ballet.

The Front Row will judge the dancing talents of Brian McFadden and wife Vogue Williams, Denise Welch and husband Lincoln Townley, Oritsé Williams and girlfriend AJ Azaris, Laurence Llewlyn Bowen and his wife, Jackie, Carl Froch and girlfriend Rachael Cordingley and Glynis Barber and husband Michael Brandon.

“I absolutely love the sound of this show, it’s going to be very entertaining,” said Mel B. “Real life couples trying to learn a new dance routine in a week? You’re just asking for trouble. I can’t wait to get back in the UK with this hot new show, we’re going to have a great time.”

“Unlike other dance shows a professional won’t partner our celebrities,” advised Gardiner. “Instead they will have to rely on their real life partners! Oh dear! The pressure will be on for the celebrities and their relationships to deliver on the night in front of the British public, and yours truly, of course.”

“What a joy this show is going to be,” added Sleep. “I love everything dance and seeing our couples try and master a new routine every week is going to be a treat. I have high hopes for them… what could possibly go wrong?!”

Hosted by Davina McCall, Stepping Out begins this Saturday at 6:30pm on ITV
