Downton’s Allen Leech is set to star alongside Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch in new film The Imitation Game. Downton Abbey meets Sherlock. Does it get any more exciting? (We’re fairly sure it doesn’t…)
Leech, who plays loveable ex-chauffeur Tom Branson in the hit ITV period drama, is set to join the cast of the film about the life and career of scientist Alan Turing who became famous for breaking Enigma codes during the Second World War.
The 32-year-old will play a Scottish Soviet spy in the Morten Tyldum film, according to Variety. Leech’s character will plot against Turing, who will be played by fan favourite Benedict Cumberbatch.
Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode have also been cast in the biopic, which is anticipated for release in 2014.
