ITV's The X Factor was soundly beaten in last autumn's battle of the ratings, losing out to BBC favourite Strictly Come Dancing week after week. This year they're taking a leaf out of the Beeb's book, launching their own rival entertainment show which will see famous faces and their real-life partners twirl about the dancefloor.
Stepping Out will be hosted by Davina McCall and see each couple attempt to master a new dance genre each week to avoid elimination (sounds familiar, doesn't it?) The cameras will follow them as they go about their daily lives, squeezing in practice sessions at home.
And the six couples putting their dance skills and relationships to the test are...
Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden and his wife Vogue Williams, Loose Women's Denise Welch and her new husband, Lincoln Townley, JLS singer Ortisé Williams and his girlfriend, A.J Azari, TV interior designer Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and his wife Jackie, professional boxer Carl Froch and girlfriend Rachel Cordingley, and actress Glynis Barber competing with her husband, Michael Brandon.
"I'm beyond excited to be hosting Stepping Out," said Davina McCall. "I love dancing and I'm a nosey parker. I can't wait to see how the couples are going to cope trying to learn the cha cha or pirouette whilst doing the school run or cleaning."
ITV's entertainment commissioning editor, Kate Maddigan, added, "We're really pleased to have Davina on board as host joining our lively mixture of couples. Davina's enthusiasm and energy will be a great asset for Stepping Out and perfect for bringing out the best in our celebrities and their real life partners."
