EastEnders will have another fresh signing on screen this autumn in the form of Kate Magowan, who is to play glamorous businesswoman Sadie Young.
Described by show bosses as a woman who is “bound to bring some class to the Square”, Sadie will be a character initially shrouded in mystery, but someone for whom big things are reportedly planned from the summer.
On her new role, Magowan, the real-life wife of actor John Simm, said: “I’m thrilled to be joining EastEnders and look forward to seeing what the character of Sadie will get up to in Walford.”
Lorraine Newman, executive producer, added: "We're delighted to have the stunning Kate Magowan joining the show. Sadie will sprinkle a little glamour over Walford and - with her no-nonsense approach to life - she's a great role model to those around her. She knows what she wants and will aim high. Sadie plays as hard as she works, creating friendships and admirers in her wake. As the autumn unfolds, we'll soon realise that there is far more to Sadie than simply meets the eye."
News of Magowan’s casting comes following recent announcements that former Hollyoaks bad boy Jamie Lomas is to play new arrival Jake Stone, while Mimi Keene has been cast as Cindy, the daughter of the late Cindy Beale. Samantha Womack will also be reprising the role of Ronnie Mitchell, while Barbara Windsor is set for a one-off return appearance as Mitchell family matriarch Peggy.
