The BBC has revealed some more information about the return of Ian Beale’s son Peter, who reappears tonight now played by Ben Hardy.
In tonight’s episode (BBC1, 9pm), viewers will see Ian (Adam Woodyatt) unveil his new restaurant to the residents of Albert Square, only for daughter Lucy (Hetti Bywater) to discover that he has been forging cheques from her account in order to fund the enterprise.
Lucy then confronts her dad, unable to quite believe that he can be stealing from her. But as the pair argue, in walks Lucy’s twin brother with the words: “Is this a private fight or should I open the door so everyone can hear?”
The character of Peter (formerly played by Thomas Law) was last seen in December 2010 when he fled in disgust after discovering that Ian had been cheating on then wife Jane with Glenda Mitchell.
Newcomer Ben Hardy, seen below during his first day on set in Elstree, said of his appointment: “I’m really excited to be joining the fantastic cast of EastEnders – a show which my family have watched for years. I can’t wait to step into the shoes of a character with so much history and am looking forward to getting stuck in.”
