It's been a few years since Pride and Prejudice fans were reacquainted with Mr Darcy and his country pile, so the news last week that the BBC are planning an adaptation of PD James's sequel Death Comes to Pemberley was music to our ears. But while the on-screen chemistry between Matthew Rhys, Anna Maxwell Martin and Matthew Goode is important, so is the casting of the title role...

It's on her initial sighting of Darcy's rural mansion that Lizzie first warms to her ardent admirer. In Jane Austen's words: "At that moment she felt that to be mistress of Pemberley might be something!" And who could forget Jennifer Ehle's look of love as she succumbed to the estate's enchantments in the BBC's 1995 adaptation?

So, with that in mind, they have a task on their hands recreating a Pemberley worthy of Miss Bennet's affections – a mission that falls to Sherlock's director of photography, Steve Lawes, who earlier tweeted out some images of Chatsworth House with the caption "Locations".

The Derbyshire stately home has been used once before as Pemberley when it posed for exterior shots for Joe Wright's 2005 film of Pride and Prejudice, and is even believed to be the inspiration for Jane Austen's architectural masterpiece. So will it provide an abode for Lizzie and Darcy once again? Watch this space...
