Forget scary feet, Mike and Sulley are college guys and they’re getting their dancing feet on.
Monsters University takes us back to the beginning of how Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan, aka Sulley, met. Before they became serious monsters, working as ‘Scarers’ at Monsters Inc factory, they were hitting all-night parties and causing monster mayhem.
Monstrous parties they are too, as Mike, Sulley and their fellow ‘Scarers in training’ learn to loosen up and groove – Swedish House Mafia style.
Director Dan Scanlon said, “We wanted to capture the college feel in Monsters University and music is a big part of that. The score and the inclusion of other great musicians [alongside award-winning composer and Pixar regular Randy Newman] like Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso (of Swedish House Mafia) and Mastodon (an American heavy metal band) help us convey a fun, freewheeling college atmosphere.”
So, expect a cool beat, lots of late nights and a few close calls with campus security.
Sulley certainly seems to have got the cool, laid-back student vibe down. He’s got a groovy hairdo, doesn’t see the point of studying and turns his hand to the monster version of beer pong. Mike seems to spend most of his time running from things and trying to do his homework, but he’s an important part of the parties, too – he’s their makeshift disco ball…
