Panel show veteran David Mitchell has signed up to host Channel 4's new programme Was It Something I Said?

The comedian, who appears opposite Lee Mack as a team captain in BBC1's Would I Lie To You?, will front the comedy panel show which pits two teams against one another in a battle of word play, answering questions based on quotes, tweets, literature, TV and film dialogue. The subject material will also feature some of the teams' very own one-liners and will be read out by a guest narrator.

Tweeters will also be able to play along with the show with the chance to receive bonus content as they watch.

David Mitchell - best known for his partnership with Robert Webb on Peep Show and That Mitchell and Webb Look - will bring plenty of panel show experience to his role, having also hosted Radio 4's The Unbelievable Truth and Channel 4's The Bubble, as well as captaining a team on comedy quiz, Best of the Worst.
