Harry Potter star Emma Watson has publicly responded to the reports that she is set to play Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades film... and it's pretty much a resounding "no".
The revelation won't come as much of a surprise to most – we couldn't really see the fresh-faced actress swapping Hermione's wand for Christian Grey's whip – but the 22-year-old star has taken to Twitter to quash the rumours herself, once and for all:
The Fifty Shades of Grey film will be based on the raunchy trilogy by EL James which charts the bedroom adventures of innocent college graduate Anastasia Steele and experienced, sado-masochistic businessman Christian Grey.
Since a film adaptation of the saucy stories was greenlit, rumours have been rife about which actors will take on the x-rated roles. And while Watson may out of the running, there are still plenty of Hollywood actresses connected to the part. Alexis Bledel, Emma Roberts, Kristen Stewart and Rooney Mara are still potential stars, as are Chalet Girl's Felicity Jones, Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, Shameless's Emmy Rossum and Pretty Little Liars' Lucy Hale.
When it comes to filling Grey's shoes, Man of Steels's Henry Cavill and White Collar's Matt Bomer are frontrunners, while Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, and Gossip Girl's Chase Crawford and Ed Westwick have been linked to the egotistical entrepreneur too.
So far, screenwriter Kelly Marcel is the only person officially confirmed to be involved in the movie, which might be in cinemas as early as summer 2014.
Emma Watson played teacher's pet Hermione in the Harry Potter franchise alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.
